DCIM self-host is installed on a Linux server and manages its own runtime under /opt/dcim. The installer sets up Docker, the database, the API, the dashboard and the HTTPS proxy.
Use a clean host whenever possible. This avoids port conflicts and makes updates, backup and troubleshooting easier.
Host requirements
- Fresh Ubuntu or Debian VPS/Server
- Root access or a user with sudo access
- Systemd available
- At least 2 GB RAM, 4 GB recommended
- At least 20 GB free disk space
DNS and Network
- A DNS A record pointing to the VPS/Server public IP
- Public ports 80 and 443 open and unused
- Outbound HTTPS access for downloads, license activation and updates
- No existing web server already bound to ports 80 or 443
Before you install
- Choose the hostname you will use for the dashboard.
- Make sure the DNS record already resolves to the server.
- Have your DCIM license key ready.
- Use a clean server if possible. Do not install DCIM on a host already running unrelated production services.
