The installer creates the first admin account automatically. The dashboard URL, admin email and temporary password are printed once in the terminal.
Complete this minimum setup before adding servers, switches or provisioning profiles.
Sign in for the first time
- 01Open the dashboard URL printed by the installer.
- 02Sign in with the admin email and temporary password printed at the end of the install.
- 03Open your account page from the user menu.
- 04Change the temporary admin password.
Configure settings
Open
System Settings before you add production data. This page controls the installation name, email delivery, login behaviour and optional GeoIP database access.Start with the system name, then configure SMTP and send a test email. Only change the login mode to an email-based option after SMTP is working. The full field guide is available in Settings.
Create datacenter
Open
Infrastructure > Datacenters and create the first datacenter. This represents the physical site where the first racks and devices will live.Use a short code that operators recognise, such as
LIS-1, and a clear name for the location. Keep the status as ACTIVE unless this site should not be used yet.Create rack
Open
Infrastructure > Racks and create the first rack inside the datacenter. The rack gives DCIM the physical space where servers and switches will be placed.Select the datacenter, set the rack name, confirm the rack size in U and leave the status as
ACTIVE. If floors and rooms are already configured, assign the rack to the correct room.Create agent and install it
Open
Infrastructure > Agents and create an agent for the same datacenter. Select multiple datacenters only if that agent can reach those locations. Enter the public or private base URL that the DCIM API, browsers and PXE clients will use to reach that agent. After creating the agent, copy the install command shown by DCIM and run it on the agent server. Wait until the agent status changes to
ONLINE, then assign a compatible agent to the rack.Agent required for connections
Inventory connections are only available when the assigned rack agent is operational. If the rack has no agent, or if the agent is not online yet, DCIM disables the actions that depend on that agent.
This is expected behaviour. Install the agent first, confirm that it is
ONLINE, and then continue with inventory connections, PXE, provisioning and remote operations.First setup video
